MIND STRENGTHENING ( MIND OVER MATTER / LUCID DREAMING)
Before we begin it is crucial to know what exactly is mind strengthening & why it is important to strengthen your mind & will power.
Mind strengthening also called congnitive training is a program of regular activities purported to maintain or improve one's congnitive abilities.
Now the question arises why to strengthen your mind & will power?
We rely on willpower to exercise, diet, save money, quit smoking, stop drinking, overcome procrastination, and ultimately accomplish any of our goals. It impacts every area of our lives. Before we go on let me clear one thing strength does not come from physical capacity. This is not a boxing ring where you have to fight with your competitor & gets rewarded no this is a real life game where you have to use your brain & not your physical capacity . In real life if you use your brain judiciously you can be as calm as the flowing water in the stream or if you lose everybody else will take your peace of mind . So it's our choice whether we choose to remain calm or allow others to lend our peace of mind .
Now coming to lucid dreaming Lucid dreams are when you know that you’re dreaming while you’re asleep.
You’re aware that the events flashing through your brain aren’t really happening. But the dream feels vivid and real. You may even be able to control how the action unfolds, as if you’re directing a movie in your sleep.
BENEFITS OF LUCID DREAMING
LESS ANXIETY : The sense of control you feel during a lucid dream may stay with you and make you feel empowered. When you’re aware that you’re in a dream, you can shape the story and the ending. That might serve as therapy for people who have nightmares, teaching them how to control their dreams.
IMPROVED PROBLEM SOLVING : It is said that lucid dreams can help people solve problems that deal with creativity (like a conflict with another person) to solve basic maths problems etc.
MORE CREATIVITY : Some people taking part in lucid dream studies were able to come up with new ideas or insights .
Now let's jump to how we can actually strengthen our mind & willpower . I am sure the first thing that will hit to your mind is Meditation but that's not the only solution.
1 - Use Your Opposite Hand:
Using the opposite hand to work with as in case of brushing your teeth , closing the tap off , writing etc improves your internal mind . Your brain is wired to use your dominant hand, so it takes willpower to use the opposite.
2- Work on Your Posture :
Don't let yourself bent . Everytime you get bent slap yourself hard & you will learn to walk straight , sit straight in 90 degree.
3- 10 Minutes of Meditation :
Meditation will give you the fastest results of all of the willpower workouts listed. By meditating you are training the brain to focus and resist the urge to wander.
4 - . Be More Mindful of Your Automatic Decisions :
A final exercise is to simply be more mindful of your decisions throughout the day. We are often so lost in thought, that our actions become automatic. Taking time to think about why you are making your daily decisions will increase your ability to focus and resist temptations.
